Art of the Confederations

A group of modern day artists were inspired by both their leading contemporaries and each of the eight nations that partook in this summer’s Confederations Cup. Tarsila do Amaral’s exquisite brushwork was used to inspire Brazil. For Spain and Italy, it was an easy decision to go with Picasso and Leonardo da Vinci. The vibrant personalities of Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japan), Joseph Amédokpo (Nigeria), Paul Gauguin (Tahiti), Carlos Páez Vilaró (Uruguay), and Jorge González Camarena (Mexico, and the world of Lucha Libre) were all essential in creating the vastly unique styles of posters. You can find the whole collection, full with explanations about the process, on the AOTC tumblr. [Posted by Eric]
